Greetings from the President

President of the Japan Society For Equilibrium Research

　Our Society was founded in 1957, and its current name has been used since the 59th Annual Meeting in 2000. Last year, in 2021, our Society celebrated its 65th anniversary. We sincerely welcome all doctors and co-medical workers who are interested in clinical practice and research in the field of Equilibrium Research to join our society.
　The Society is an interdisciplinary society comprised of members specializing in otorhinolaryngology, neurosurgery, neurology, neurophysiology, and rehabilitation medicine and currently has approximately 2,000 members.
　Dizziness is one of the most common symptoms confronted in daily medical practice. However, there are various causes, ranging from those with a good prognosis to those with a grave prognosis. The Society is currently standardizing the diagnosis and treatment of dizziness with the aim of improving the care of patients with this condition. In 2020, we revised the clinical practice guidelines for Ménière’s disease and delayed endolymphatic hydrops, and in 2021, we developed clinical practice guidelines for vestibular neuritis.
　The Society also maintains close ties with relevant overseas academic societies such as the Barany Society, the International Society of Posture and Gait Research, and the Korean Balance Society.
　As President, I would like to develop both activities and projects for the Japan Society For Equilibrium Research, and for this reason, I would like to ask for the continued support of the members of our Society.
